Happy Thanksgiving 2007 - SimsHsia - Thu Nov 22 2007

Have a happy Thanksgiving, try not to get too stuffed with that turkey!

Oh, and if you're one of those that wake up at 3AM for Black Friday Sales, well, good luck!

..You know I've always thought Thanksgiving was a weird holiday. I mean it's celebrating the land we took from the Native Americans....hurray?

Happy Thanksgiving =D

RE: Happy Thanksgiving 2007 - Toriban - Thu Nov 22 2007

Technically, that's not what the holiday is about, but rather the circumstances under which it started.

And its not just us who stole the land, anyways. The Russians used to "own" Alaska, the French "owned" Louisiana, the Spanish had the American Southwest and Florida. Hell, the Danes bought Manhattan Island for about $20, and turned it into New Amsterdam.

Its true, though, that many of the atrocities committed against the Native American people occurred after the formation of the United States, but we Montanans were always pretty nice to them. We kinda had to be, I suppose, what with them outnumbering us two to one at the time and the fact that we were nothing but farmers and drunken gold miners. And since we were one of the last states (Whooo!! We're forty-one! We're forty-one!) and didn't join the U.S. until after the Civil War, we're pretty much exempt from any blame anyway.

So anyway, the point is, I have no trouble celebrating Thanksgiving. Its putting up with my family I have an issue with.
