MSN Messenger is no more
#1
You heard right, MSN Messenger is no more, from now on the Butterfly is now retiring to a new name: Windows Messenger Live (v.8.0).

In part of Microsoft plan to split the company into three divisions: Platform Products and Services, Business, and Entertainment and Devices; however Microsoft, as a whole, is still running as one company.

MSN will morph into two seperate brans: MSN and Windows Live. MSN will now be forever known as content only, like MSN.com and MSNBC.com; while Windows Live is now Live.com, Mail, and Instant Messenging.

MSN Messenger 7.5, is ultimately the last and final version bearing the multicolored butterfly for instant messenging, there will be no difference between MSN Messenger 7.5 and Windows Live Messenger. With Windows Live Messenger, you log in the same way as MSN Messenger whether it is @msn or @hotmail.com, plus you have the same features plus a few more new features yet to be discovered.

The Messenger Team explains that "...this is more than just a name change", it is mainly to "...To unite the online experience..." by having "...Messenger to Search to Mail, and..." have an address book with all contacts in a unified device: Windows Live Messenger.

Windows Live Messenger, from screenshots, appears to match the style of the upcoming 2006 Operating System Windows Vista; plus it comes in many different colors and flavors for your interests.
