Apple and Intel, a new relationship.
#1
Back in June, Jobs announced plans for Apple to migrate from its ten-year domain of using the Motorola/IBM PowerPC to using Intel Pentium and Intel Pentium M Processors.

These new Mactels (Macintosh and Intel) will be avaliable sometime in January 2006, will this be a good time to buy a PowerBook laptop? Well, the answer is ultimately up to you. With Intel's reputation with having mobile processors having low power consumption and high performance, this may be a good bet for one who may use the laptop during air flights and still have some juice left in the battery for a few more hours.

Yet, plans for these new Intel-powered PowerBooks and PowerMacs will not be released until sometime during late 2006 or early 2007 with the Merom and Conroe processors. The first step Apple will take is the Mac Mini, powered by the upcoming Intel Pentium M Dual-cored processor, the Yonah.

The Yonah is Intel's 3rd generation processor, under the Yonah platform. The Yonah, being dual-cored, will enable a performance boost than its current processor out in the market. Apple's strategy is to "...equip its computers with Intel processors starting from the most affordable models".

By the end of 2007, all models available from Apple will be powered by the Intel processor.
